Welcome to our new money section! You may already know Refinery29’s Money Diaries… this is our own version of it! We’ve put together a few questions to understand what women are doing with their money. Let’s break the taboo and talk more about finances!

Financial goals:
Short term (1-5 years): Buy a flat, save for a couple of big travelling trips
Medium term (5-10 years): Consolidate my career and buy a second investment property
Long term (10 years +): Have a stable enough financial situation to retire comfortably and be able to support my family
Best buy ever: Buy to let flat
Worst buy ever: Cheap clothes that don't last
Things you spend the most money on: Wine! Nights out and experiencing London
Salary / Income: £45,000
Net worth (what you own vs what you owe, or your assets minus your debts): £254,000
Any side hustles: Rental income from buy to let
Savings: £57,000 in ISA, stocks and shares and regular saver. I try and save £450 of my salary each month
Home: Buy to let flat £205,000, planning on buying my own place next year
Debt: £50k mortgage, £20k student loans
Investing: I'm contributing 6% to my workplace pension, I put £300 a month in my ISA, £200 in a regular saver and £25 into stocks and shares each month
Pension: Yes, through my workplace
Insurances: Work cover death and long term illness
What is money for you? A safety net and tool to support myself and my family
What is financial independence for you? Supporting my family, not having to worry/think about money all the time
