£20,000 Birmingham Letting Agent.png

You may already know Refinery29’s Money Diaries… this is our own version of it! We’ve put together a few questions to understand what women are doing with their money. Let’s break the taboo and talk more about finances!

It’s short, snappy, fun and anonymous.

Letting agent. Birmingham. 25. Living with partner, no kids, one cat.

💭 Financial goals:

Short term (1-5 years): Buying an apartment, study to become a yoga teacher, keep on saving regularly and travelling at least twice a year (once to visit family abroad, once to discover new cultures).

Medium term (5-10 years): Get another apartment as buy-to-let, work towards financial independence to decrease my workload at the office to dedicate more time to yoga.

Long term (10 years +): Not have to worry about money, spend more time with family and potentially adopt a kid..

🌟 Best buy ever: Yoga classes is definitely something that has changed my outlook on life and therefore justify the weekly expense.

😳 Worst buy ever: Expensive designer bags to impress others!

👀 Things you spend the most money on: Rent and food. We have so many amazing independent restaurants on our doorstep so end up eating out once every couple of weeks.

💸 Salary / Income: £20,000 per annum

💰 Net worth (what you own vs what you owe, or your assets minus your debts): £18,368.82

💻 Any side hustles: Not yet, I think I value my free time more than extra money at this point in life.

👛 Savings: I save about 40% of my income a month, half savings, 1/4 in a work pension and 1/4 in a Vanguard ETF.

🏠 Home: Currently renting but in the process of completing on a flat early part of 2020

🔦 Debt: I have about £300 of credit card debt which I had to take out in order to have a creidt history. I plan to have this fully paid off in a couple of months though.

📈 Investing: I invest 1/4 of my disposable income through my work pension, 1/4 in a Vanguard ETF. I plan to increase these contributions once I have bough my first property in a few months time.

😌 Pension: Works pension is a great way of getting free money! I have about £2,000 with Nest currently.

🔮 Insurances: Content insurance only, however I plan to have home insurance once officially a homeowner.

What is money for you? A very powerful tool that can change your life for the better or worse.

🚀 What is financial independence for you? Not have to worry about unforeseen circumstances, having the luxury to live life on your own terms.
